Palm Sunday (2019)

It is the final week of Lent.

Palm Sunday has arrived and with that Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem is celebrated.

Of course, almost immediately, the passion begins, leading to Jesus' trial and death on Good Friday.

Easter is next Sunday, very, very late in the year.

For those who celebrate, enjoy the brief happy day and if you can, get your palms.

Makenna And The Pancakes

This photo is for my Sister.

I have about 5 or 6 photos of this set up and the cat ended up in half of them.

I have no idea what she was doing, minus trying to get me to feed her a second breakfast.

I love her in spite of always getting in the way.

And thankfully for me, she did not attempt to smell or eat my pancakes.

In case you wondered, they lasted for 4 days.

Reclaimed Water...Or Not

We have reclaimed water fixtures on the landscape at The Pointe.

The City of Burbank is very proactive with this new project.

They put it in during the last drought and I salute them for it.

Recently, the City of Santa Clarita put in new median shrubbery and one of the things they did, was put in reclaimed water fixtures (they are purple or pink in color).

One would think this is great.

Well, it was brought to my attention recently, that we have no source of reclaimed water and so the pipes are not used.

I have serious concerns about that. It is like it is all for show.

I hope they figure out something, but somehow I doubt it.

This Year's Crop Of Irises

I love when I don't have to pay for fresh cut flowers.

This time of year is Iris time.

I have about 5 purple ones and just the one yellow and white one.

I think I lost the other two, over the years.

Since I took this photo, 2 more purple irises came into my house

No matter how many, they look beautiful and last for about a week.

A major win in my book.

Buttermilk Flapjacks

At some point I will show off a photo of Makenna checking out my display...but not today.

I saw these pancakes in the store about 3 months ago.

I was not attracted to them due to the upcoming trip to Alaska or anything, but they intrigued me because of the whole wheat buttermilk thing.

What also caught my eye is the fact that they also gave directions to make them more protein rich.

So I bought them and tried them and also added blueberries.

My Husband is not a big fan, but I happen to like them. Especially on the first day they are made.

The pancakes get a little dry after day one (though if you want, syrup and butter do help).

Last time I was at Costco, Kodiak Flapjacks were there, too.

I guess they are catching on.

PBS Newshour Returns To Our Air

Monday was the day.

After airing just International news for the past 8 years, we aired the PBS Newshour at 3PM (6PM EDT), for the first time.

Our sister station, PBS SoCal airs it in the evening, but they allowed us to take the East Coast Feed and I am quite happy with this decision.

Back in the 80's and early 90's, we used to air it at that time and it was always a win with the staff in our office.

That is where my love of David Gergen comes from. He was always so nice to me, when he was "in studio" here in Los Angeles.

Anyway, back to the present...

To make space in our schedule, we dropped the KCET airing of France 24, which I happen to like.

It still airs on Link TV, so I could sneak over to that, if I want. :-)

The bottom line is that we have made our public affairs schedule better and brought in a daily presence of PBS to our air.

Onward.

Flamingos

My Water Post For Today.

I should have been in Las Vegas and I should have been at the Flamingo Hotel.

Unfortunately for both my Husband and I, we booked a cruise two weeks later.

So no TechCon and NAB for us this year.

Lots of photos of friends of mine, but this one of the pond in the back of the Flamingo Hotel spoke to me.

Kelly Forman took the photo.

I hope you enjoy.

Aurora Borealis In Shetland

I was going to use this photo for my water post, but it really doesn't do the right by the water.

IMHO, the colors in the sky and the reflections on the water, make this photo.

I had heard that there was going to be some of the Aurora Borealis coming down as far as Massachusetts, so this fabulous display did not surprise me.

I hope you enjoy it.

Thoughts on Spring

Everything has woken up, here in Los Angeles.

Right now the pear trees are going crazy with their white flowers, including the one in my neighbor's back yard.

My Sweet Pink Jasmine vine by the windmill is blooming, also.

Even my Bird of Paradise has many orange blooms.

Of course, on the other side of the situation, there is lots of pollen in the air.

Spring has sprung and even my grass is doing OK...not great, but OK.

Hopefully, all will make it through our 12 day vacation, coming up at the end of the month.

A Baby Shower Gift

My Nephew and his wife are expecting their first child soon.

I bought a cute bunch of birch tree decals for the new baby's nursery.

I usually buy something like a bunch of onsies, since the baby goes through so many in the first months of life.

But I kept looking at the many things they wanted and this set of decals kept calling to me, so I bought it.

They sent me a photo the other day and said that it was everything they wanted, in the way of the look of the room.

I personally love the color green that they painted the walls. It makes the decals stand out.

Only a few weeks to go.

Spring Tulips

I believe I planted these tulips, when I planted the daffodils. It is many years ago, now.

Amazingly, these do come up every year.

Way back when, I showed you some that I have on the side of my house.

They came from Holland and after the first year, they have never bloomed again.

You can see them, HERE.

Glad I get some tulips.

Update On My Son

Lots of stuff going on in Wixom, Michigan...

My Son survived the winter and he even took off his snow tires last last month.

He has decided to move out of the house that he has been renting with his 2 friends and that takes place sometime next month.

To say the least, we were surprised. He was supposed to last 3 years in that location.

Onward he goes to the next phase of his personal life.

In the way of his work life, he says GM is very busy right now. Many taking Spring Break with their kids.

So he have been covering some of his team members. Yep, I know that song and dance.

Oh, check out his CN Tower Shirt that we bought him. :-)

Lavender In The Spring

My across the street neighbor has several lavender plants in front of their home.

I love lavender and since I was walking by their home, I took a photo of it.

Mine does not look anywhere near as good as their's does.

So very healthy and beautiful.

Since I was on my way down to the poppies, I did not pick any.

They would probably be happy about that. :-)

Neighborhood Poppies

I have not managed to get up to the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve yet, but I took a weekday off, later on in the month (to make the drive out there).

I am hoping the poppies last that long, with all the trampling the other residents of the area are giving them.

For now, I went to our "down the street" neighbor and posed in front of their home.

It is a nice bunch of poppies this year.

Glad that the rain did some good for our yards.

4 Points Fountain

My Water Post For Today.

We spent a few hours at the Sheraton 4 Points Hotel in Culver City last week.

My Husband mentioned to me, as we were leaving the facility, that there was a fountain in front.

Yes, I can not resist a photo or two, for you, my dear readers.

I thought it was pretty and serene, at the same time.

Enjoy.
