Beer Bread, Trader Joe's Style

I made this Trader Joe's Beer Bread on Sunday.

A can of beer, some oil or butter and you are set to go.

It was very good, but next time I think I will add a few handfuls of cheese into the batter, to make it a cheesy Beer Bread.

Or maybe form them into little drop biscuits, like they have at Red Lobster.

If you have a Trader Joe's, check this out.

Inexpensive and yummy.

If you are not lucky and don't have a Trader Joe's around your area of the world, here is my recipe for Beer Bread, from a TV show called Cookin' Cheap.

3 1/2 Cups Self Rising Flour
1 Can Beer
1 Egg
1/4 Cup Sugar

Add Egg to Flour and then add the Beer and Sugar. Stir to moisten and then pour into a greased bread pan and bake for one hour at 350 degrees. Toothpick inserted into the top needs to be clean, when removed.

  1. If you are into making them, I gave a link to explain how to make all purpose flour into Self Rising Flour. I checked the supermarket yesterday, to find out what made it different. Enjoy.

  2. I have one question? Where is Makenna? Somehow it does not look complete with out the Cat.

  3. Note: Facebook users saw some outtakes of this shot, with my cat sniffing the box and the beer. :-)

Martha: Yeah, I did finally get Makenna out of the photo long enough to get this picture.
