A No Sun Ventura Beach Photo

My Water Post For Today.

Ventura Beach in the middle of summer.

Unfortunately for us, the fog had already come in and so it was kind of gloomy.

We didn't mind and enjoyed the 10 or so minutes we stood there watching the waves come in and the people doing weird stuff.

As a matter of fact, the lifeguard came up to the 2 surfers, right after I took this photo.

I guess he didn't like what they were doing.

Anyway, enjoy a wavy shot of the Pacific Ocean.

This Is What 39 Years Married Looks Like

My work day was very busy on the 12th, so my Husband and I decided to celebrate 39 years married, on Saturday.

We first thought we would go to a nicer than normal restaurant, but then decided that one of our favorites, driving an hour to Ventura Beach, would make us even happier.

The Ventura Harbor area seems to be doing worse, in regard to the shops that are there, but the beach was full of people enjoying the late afternoon.

Our favorite restaurant, Andrea's Seafood, was packed with people and there was quite a line, when we decided to join it.

That was after our half hour pre-dinner walk through the shops and harbor.

We took this selfie at the place where the shops make a hard 90 degree turn, trying to get some atmosphere behind our heads.

It didn't totally work.

Oh well, Happy 39th Guy.

The Grand Canyon 40 Years Apart

If there is one place in this Country of ours, that has major "Awe" Factor, it is The Grand Canyon.

My Son is really hustling through the Country, but he took the time to bring his girlfriend to visit it.

I love the selfie he took at The Grand Canyon on Tuesday.

Wow, it brings back so many memories, for me.

Here I am in 1979 40 years earlier.

I believe this is Powell Memorial, where we caught a sunset, later that afternoon.

I loved that place and totally intend to visit it...sooner, rather than later.

Well worth the time spent.

Happy 39th Anniversary (2019)

Here it is again, the Anniversary of my first wedding.

It was 39 years ago today.

It was hotter then hell, in Downey, CA.

I was young and so was my guy.

I truly appreciate all he has done for me, over these many years.

The thing I thank him for the most, is the creation of my Son.

Love you guy...Happy Anniversary.

Travels With My Son

They left us on Monday morning, bright and early and have made it to Denver, Colorado...so far.

My Son and his girlfriend are traveling to their apartment in Novi, Michigan.

They will begin their together life, when they arrive.

As of right now, they have visited The Fry Bread House in Phoenix, the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Durango, Colorado.

As of last evening, they arrived in the Denver, CO area.

There have been several stops along the way, including lots of Sam's Clubs for gas.

I am sure it will be an unforgettable experience for them, as it was for me.

A New Sign At Work, Take 2

Remember I showed off a paper sign they put up on the 4th Floor, to direct people to our area? You can see it HERE, if you forgot.

On Friday the 5th of July, the workers came and added this lovely signage on the 4th, in addition to the paper one already in place.

Outlook Amusements got a new one, too.

Both are very nice and help direct people to our area.

Freaked Out Cat

Normally, my cat is sleeping on the ottoman between 8:30PM and 9PM, due to the fact that it is her late night snack (second dinner) time.

Well we had that 7.1 earthquake and to say the least, she was frightened and so with big eyes, she kept watch on the room.

Trying to find out if something else was coming our way.

I picked her up shortly after and tried to calm her, but then the 4 young adults came by and so that ruined any peace I had given to her.

It was not her best night and she spent part of it, under the love seat in our bedroom, where we have her cat bed (which she never uses).

A smart move, on this particular evening.

I highly approved it. :-)

Good Luck, from Butchart Gardens

My Water Post For Today.

My Son leaves us this morning at 6AM, he may be back in December, or maybe not.

In honor of his leaving on this grand adventure, I bring you a creek in the Japanese Garden at Butchart Gardens.

All the coins are placed in it, for good luck and I thought it was appropriate.

The whole area of the Japanese Gardens is stunning and well worth the time to visit.

I hope you enjoy.

Homeless In L.A.

I took the train to Burbank the other day.

As I traveled through Sun Valley, there were all these campers and tents along the rail road tracks.

It always makes me sad, to see how much homeless there are out there.

We (the residents of Los Angeles) voted to help the homeless and yet we still see nothing being done.

The problem only seems to get worse.

They camp up at the top of the freeway walls, too. I can't even imagine how much noise they suffer with.

I don't see any changes coming their way, even with money being put aside to help.

What Do You Do After An Earthquake...

Another work day and another earthquake...I get the distinct feeling it is going to be like this for a while. Hopefully my post today will be the last on the subject.

I had a doctor's appointment and so I drove in today.

It was the follow up to my colonoscopy last month, which I basically had the info on. All well there, all benign.

I worked until 4PM and then drove home.

We decided that since our Son was not in town, we would eat at home and did so.

I read the newspaper and then took a little nap.

When I got up around 8:15P, I decided to get myself a some dessert.

As I stood in the kitchen, my Husband says something and I look at the kitchen chandelier and it is swinging.

But wait, there's more...it got worse and lasted about 40 seconds or so.

So there went my quiet evening at home.

Our Son and his companions decided to ditch whatever they were doing and came over to our house, for safety, I assume.

They decided to play a game we got for him, called Santa Clarita-opoly.

Monopoly for the local crowd.

I knew the earthquake was bigger than yesterday's and I won that bet.

That also means yesterday's earthquake was a fore-shock. This is getting complicated.

Good thing we are about 140 miles away from the epicenter, which is near Ridgecrest.

Earthquake!

When I said to have a safe 4th of July, I wasn't thinking of an earthquake.

That's what we got, at 10:30AM, a 6.4 earthquake, centered up by Ridgecrest, CA.

We were in the spa at the gym, after our morning exercise, when the place started shaking. First a quick bump, which had me looking around the room to figure out why the spa seemed to move just a hair and then the big one followed.

When the roof over our heads made a noise, I turned to my Husband and said his name. I knew what was happening and figured it might be a good idea to move out.

Well, it stopped at that point, thankfully, but we did exit the spa and go to the shower. I wanted my street clothes on ASAP.

Quite a morning.

At home, my Son and Makenna were there and when it was over, my Son checked up on the cat and all was well.

We spent the afternoon together and when we figured things had quieted down a bit, went shopping for food.

Happy 4th Of July (2019)

Happy 4th Of July!

I don't even remember where I got this rope of lights, but while looking in our hall closet last weekend, we came upon it.

What timing!

We wound it around the front part of our house and I think it looks very nice.

Since I was out front, to deal with this, I can report that I no longer have a hummingbird.

No idea what happened to her, though the nest is still there.

I never saw any eggs or babies, either. Hope she is OK.

Anyway, I wish you a safe and cool 4th.

Magic Returns To Our Life

My Magic Son has returned home and so my two "sons" were together on Sunday.

They spent the day together and deemed us worthy of having us join them for dinner at Grand Panda.

We entered the restaurant and my magic "Son" was doing a new trick for my Son.

He did the trick twice and got both of them right.

I guess he has been practicing them, while shooting "The 12 Puppies of Christmas" the past 2 weeks.

Look for it on the Hallmark Channel, in December. :-)

Mornings In My House

Just because my Son is at home this week, doesn't take away the morning routine we have with Makenna.

When my Husband gets up and makes the bed, she goes to the corner and waits for her head rub.

Yesterday, I thought they were so cute, I took a photo of them.

For a cat that he did not initially like, they show so much love between them.

The Star Pond

My Water Post For Today.

This is the Star Pond in the Italian Garden area of Butchart Gardens.

What made it impressive to me, was the tulips growing all around the star shape.

As the tulips die, other flowers are planted, so that it has color throughout the year.

By the way, the pond was built to house the many ducks that Mrs. Butchart collected over the years.

Another fun fact, there are 12 points to the star.

I hope you enjoy.
