My Ballot Arrived At The Polling Location

My Husband and I signed up on Sunday to find out if our 2020 ballot got to the place it was supposed to.

On Monday afternoon we both got text messages.

As you can see, it confirms the fact that the ballot got to someone who was supposed to get it.

With all this ballot box confusion, it made me sleep easier.

What a wacko election this has turned out to be.

Edited off the top was my name, by the way.

The Grass...Week 2

Things move slowly in our covid life...

The grass is starting to make an appearance and my Husband mowed it on Tuesday.

I think it is filling in nicely, considering I did not get rid of most of the weeds.

It didn't seem worth it, when the whole back lawn is weeds.

Grow Grass, Grow!

Here is what it looked like on October 4th (when the photo was taken). GRASS

Kelly And Paul Are Married

My Nephew Paul, and his fiancee Kelly, have tied the knot.

In this unpresidented time, they managed to get married, in a Church, no less.

It was a socially distanced ceremony, with the priest way back behind the couple, but they are married, just the same.

My youngest brother managed to be at the ceremony. The only one on our side of the family.

I am glad they made it happen.

Have a happy life together. I love you both.

The Vincent Thomas Bridge, San Pedro

My Water Post For Today.

There has been a lot of media attention this week on the Port of Long Beach's Gerald Desmond Bridge replacement.

As it ends up, this bridge is at the other end of Terminal Island, in San Pedro.

The photo is from our Alaska Cruise in 2019.

Obviously, very calm water in the port.

In Los Angeles bridges are rare and that makes this something special.

I hope you enjoy.

Navy Bean Chili

After an entire week of left-overs, I decided to heat up the house (the weather changed, who knew?) with a hot bowl of chili.

I had a free package of navy beans sitting in the closet since May and so I prepped them, while I got a package of ground beef out of my freezer.

4 hours later, there was chili for dinner.

It wasn't perfect, but served with elbow maccaroni, it was different than normal.

Now I have left-overs up the wazoo, once again.

Oh well...

What Are The Chances

Remember back in August I mentioned my tote bag and my scarf?

Well, on Friday I got an email message from our Communications Department at KCET. They are looking for old tote bags from the past for the New York Times!!!!!

No problem, I had that sent off to them within minutes.

Wow, it might be famous. :-)

An October Sunset

This sunset was on Monday night.

The only reason I caught it, was it was pink out my back window and I knew it would be much better if I went out the front door and looked.

As you can see, it was.

The sun is setting at 6:30PM here in LA. The Fall days are getting shorter.

Oh, and for the moment, it is getting a bit cooler here.

Truly appreciated. If not for the mosquitos.

We Voted!

Not like anyone is surprised, but I voted and placed it in the ballot box on Wednesday.

We don't usually vote this early, but whole thing with the post office not being able to deliver in a timely manner, has spooked us and so off it went.

We can now sit back and watch (or not) stuff going on and no longer care, at least in regard to the Presidential Election.

I found it interesting that the ballot had a separate page just for the President and Vice President.

I would not be surprised if they tally President first and then tally the other pages.

Get a move on people.

Times a wasting.

Trying To Repair The Grass

I have been working on fixing our backyard sprinklers, for the past 2 months or so.

Many areas that were dying on us, have come back strong...but there is one part that gets no water.

We really don't feel like having a landscaper come over to try to figure out why our number 6 water controller is not putting out enough water to reach it, so I have been watering the area for the past week and I planted grass seed.

We will see if it works.

See me in two weeks.

Talking With My Son (October 2020)

The month of my Son's birth has arrived.

In honor of that fact, I sent a package to him of Donna Bell's Baked goods.

They had free brownies and cookies decorated with all sorts of Halloween stuff, with an order of some other bakery good.

It made it over to him and he said they are good, though a bit on the sugary side.

In other things, they decided to stay put this Fall and all the reading I have been doing, supports that decision. Even Rick Steves says he is not traveling right now...and you know how much he wants to. :-)

Otherwise he and his girlfriend are holding their own, in Michigan.

I am just happy he is safe.

Vanderbilt Canceled in 2020

My Water Post For Today.

I was looking forward to new photos from the Vanderbilt car show last month.

My brother-in-law was supposed to work the audio, but at the last minute they decided to cancel the show.

Not surprising in the least, but why did they take so long. Every gathering has been shut down this year.

So here is a photo that I have never posted of the Vanderbilt, from back in 2018.

I hope you enjoy.

AARP Food Drive

A friend of mine works for the AARP and mentioned that he was taking part in a Food Pantry event for seniors in the District of Columbia area.

He showed a link to the website and I signed up to get boxes and send food to DC.

I took the list to the market and got the supplies. Now I wait for the boxes to arrive.

It seems it got delayed in shipping.

The products are what is not bagged in the photo (2 boxes worth). The bagged food will go to our food pantry on Monday.

AARP Meal Pack Challenge will only be active til the end of October.

Green And Gold (2020)

Friday October 2, 2020 was Green and Gold Day in Oswego.

Unfortunately for me, I was at home and so had to take a remote photo.

Here I am, sitting at my new desk with my Oswego School of Communications Media and the Arts shirt.

My Grandpa hangs behind me and I talk to him sometimes. I am sure he is proud.

It's hard going, but I am glad I decided to go back to my alma mater, once more.

If you remember, back in 2013 I was actually in the top corner of the photo they took of Green and Gold Day. You can see it HERE.

Vincent

Memes in the world of the Coronavirus...

This is a famous Vincent Van Gogh self portrait (1889).

The meme is making fun of the fact that he cut off one of his ears, in December of 1888.

I thought it was particually interesting, that they took a famous painting and painter and brought it to today's pandemic.

I happen to love the work of Van Gogh and so that meant something to me. In addition, I submitted it to "Meme of the Week" (it is a contest on one of my Facebook Groups).

Spooky

I am having trouble getting my pumpkin's timer to go off on time.

So the last 2 nights, this is what greated me, when I left the family room and went to bed.

I am also having problems with the bedroom light. Which makes me feel like the controlers are having a bit of trouble getting a good signal.

I am sure I will figure it out eventually, but for now, it has been kind of Spooky in the living room.

Love is kind of crazy with a spooky little girl like you...
