Walking In The Snow

My Water Post For Today.

My Son sent us a selfie of him at this park.

I loved the frozen water, and cut him out, for the water post.

A beautiful trail (It might be Nature Discovery Trail, but I am not sure).

There are so many places in his area of the world, to walk around.

I hope you enjoy.

Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs...

My Son lives in a small town in Michigan.

The thing about the states in the midwest, like Ohio, and Michigan, is that they have overhead bridges with the name of the town on them.

One of the many ways we go, to get to his house, has one of these.

If you look close, you can see it says Commerce Township on it.

I think that since the road ends, and passes by things like the Library and Town Hall, it is considered the center of all government activities.

It is very nice, and adds to my appreciation of the area he moved to.

Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cereal

We eat Quaker Oatmeal Squares, usually for a snack.

It is not cheap, but a few weeks ago it was on sale and we bought several boxes.

We also had bought Quaker Granola from Costco and had eaten almost the entire first pouch of a two pouch package.

In December we had a recall on the Granola, and brought it back to Costco for a full refund.

On Friday we saw that they expanded the recall to our Cereal, too.

This we had bought from Vons, our grocery store.

Hopefully, we will get our money back on it, but finding the receipts is going to be difficult, at best.

A strange world we live in.

I Looked At Clouds...

"I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all"*

Sunrise on Thursday.

It was windy, and it woke me up. Thus, I saw the sunrise.

These clouds are up to the north of us, and it was snowing on the grapevine.

A nice thing to wake up to.

Recent Flying

After the Alaska Airlines scare last Friday, my Husband and I checked our United tickets from last September, since United owns some of the same planes.

We found out that we were not on any Boeing 737 Max 9 planes, which made both of us very happy.

Especially since we were in seats higher than row 20.

Both our long distance flights were on the Airbus, and the short hops were on the Embraer.

Flying is definitely moving to the lowest level of my travel plans, moving forward.

That photo is from Nashville Airport, btw.

My Guys In Action

In November, when we visited our Son at his home, we ran an errand.

I put something in his hatchback, which I don't have much experience with.

When I closed the hatch, the center break light came off and, was hanging by a wire.

I guess I did not know that you have to close hatches gently.

When we got back to his house, my two guys set about regluing the break light back into position.

Seriously, I never knew that was something you could do.

Pretty proud of them both.

Steely Dan At The KIA Forum 1/5/24

Steely Dan is opening for The Eagles Farewell Tour this year.

As I have said before, I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars to see a one hour show. Tickets were at least $177 a person, when checking the price.

The only thing that bothers me, is the fact that Donald Fagen had surgery in late 2023 and had to miss November and December's concert dates.

I, of course, watched this entire concert, just to see how he had recovered.

I am glad to say, he seemed in fine shape, and that made me very happy.

Here is the setlist, of this performance. Note, the clip is missing the band open, and the band closing number.

Setlist for Steely Dan 1/5/24

Josie

Hey Nineteen

Aja

Kid Charlemagne

Dirty Work

Time Out of Mind

Rikki Don't Lose That Number

Peg

My Old School

Reelin' in the Years

You can view it HERE.

It is almost exactly 1 hour long.

San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf

My Water Post For Today.

It's coming up on 4 years since I visited San Francisco, CA

It was my 65th Birthday, and we went to #8 Fisherman's Wharf for lunch.

While we were there, we took a walk around the area, to Pier 43, where the arch is, which you can see in THIS post.

You can see in the distance, #8 Fisherman's Wharf, though Alioto's is no longer there. It closed in 2022, due to the loss of business during the Pandemic.

A shame, because it was a wonderful place, right on the water.

I hope you enjoy.

A Beautiful Sunset On Three Kings Day

It was the 6th of January, and so the Three Kings arrived at the Manger. :-)

After admiring them for half the day, off they went, (back to their box) for another year.

Shortly after packing them away, the sun set.

What a magnificent sunset it was!

So fitting for those Three Kings.

Holiday Cards, Or Photo Cards?

We went to our usual grocery store to shop for food.

They had a huge table in the front aisle, with 75% off all sorts of holiday knick·knacks, Hard pass, I thought to myself.

Then I saw a tall stack of cards for $2.50. 18 cards in a box.

3 boxes and I am set for next year. Sorry folks, I will not be spending lots of money on a photo card next year.

I will miss putting it together, but almost $300 for holiday greetings (with stamps), is just too much.

Cheese Curds

I did not get presents for Christmas, minus from my Son.

So as the holiday season wound down, the cheese offers increased on social media.

I have wanted to try cheese curds, for years. Back when I worked at KCET.

I don't think I managed to get any, when a friend of mine brought some from Wisconsin.

Well, I decided to try some, and at the same time get the cheese that you heat, which used to be available in stores.

When I put everything in the cart, I would have paid for shipping...so I added the garlic and dill curds to the box.

I would rather eat a product, rather than get nothing but paying a shipping charge.

We opened the garlic and dill and it is not bad.

Win!

A Visit To The NICU Where My Son Was Born

33 years ago, my Son was born.

Being he was 32 weeks when born, he ended up spending a month in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Holy Cross Hospital.

I have not been back to the unit, since we brought him home.

Yesterday, I decided to bring my Husband over to the Hospital, since it was raining when we got up.

Our local CT Scan machine was on the blink, so they sent him down to LA. The appointment was set for rush hour. Right...

Once we got there (in plenty of time, I might add) we had to wait.

I took a walk around the area, and followed a sign to the NICU. It wasn't far, at all.

A nice employee explained that the windows that were there 33 years ago are now gone, so you can't see the children. Back in the day, the window was right above his incubator.

My Husband thinks it is probably for privacy concerns, so people can't take photographs of the babies.

No matter what, I did take a photo of the door, which has such cute animals hanging around the doorway. Note the cat down below!

It looks so much nicer than what I remember.

I was quite pleased.

Counted Cross Stitch

When my eyesight was much younger, I used to be able to do needlework, specifically counted cross stitch.

For some reason, the topic came up on my Friday night Zoom session, and some people were able to grab something they had right near them.

Mine were in the hall, and bedroom, so I stayed put.

New Year's Eve, I sent these two photos over to the gang.

I got lots of good comments, and, of course, Happy New Year wishes.

The first one was done when I was single and living in North Hollywood.

It has hung on my walls, ever since.

The second one is a DeGrazia pattern. He was a Southwest artist, of Italian heritage.

It hangs in my bedroom, which has a southwest flavor to it.

It is nice to know I had talent, though not anymore.

Ducks By The Water

My Water Post (delayed 2 weeks due to the Monday Holidays).

This is from November, when we visited the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Arizona.

I mentioned at the time that half the walkway around the lake has concrete walkways, and the other side is more natural.

The photo was taken on the natural side of the lake.

I enjoyed seeing the ducks just hanging out, and not bothering us for food.

Happy New Year to you, and water posts will return next Monday.

Happy New Year (2024)

Happy New Year to all my blog readers.

Sending hope to all that the year goes well for you.

We did splurge with Grand Panda Chinese last night. A tradition that goes WAY back for us.

We now have leftovers that will last us the entire week. LOL

Other than that, we had a quiet night before, just watching TV.

We will talk to my Son, later today.
