Canada Geese In Rhode Island

As I went looking in my posts for geese, I found out that I have featured them many times, over the years.

These 2 have not been featured, so I bring you canada geese in Providence, Rhode Island.

What I loved the most about them, was how calm they seemed to be, sitting by the park at the Providence River.

It was pretty cool out, that day, but they did not seem to care.

Enjoy.

French Toast With Costco Bread

We made French Toast from a loaf of Costco Cinnamon, Apple, Raisin, Nut Bread on Sunday.

It is $7.99, so it is not cheap, but it is dense, and full of so many healthy things, that it is worth it to us.

We cooked sausages, to go with it and had multiple wonderful meals from the loaf.

My Husband's French Toast recipe works perfect for this.

Though we added an extra egg this time. We usually use 3 eggs, and needed a 4th.

Yum!

The Olympics Are Ours!

They are ours, once again.

It will be 44 years between Olympics, here in Los Angeles and we are so ready to host the games again.

Who knew a Pandemic would turn up between those years. Hopefully, we can keep the world healthy, for ours.

BTW, it was a pretty intense closing ceremony, with Tom Cruise getting the Olympic Flag, and "bringing" it to Los Angeles, in a way that only he can do.

LA28!

Yes, I screen captured my Facebook page. :-)

Bixby Bridge

My Water Post For Today.

I am amazed that I have never highlighted Big Sur at the Bixby Bridge.

Probably the highlight of any trip to Big Sur.

This photo was taken in 2005. We were traveling with a very sleep deprived Son.

We did not care, we enjoyed the ride and the view of the Pacific Ocean.

A Southwest Chief Trip?

There is a train meet-up that goes on each year, at the end of September.

It's called the River and Rail Weekend, and I would like to attend some of the events. One of which is a river ride on the Mississippi.

Obviously, hotels are probably sold out, but my mind keeps thinking of things, to make it happen for us.

One thought is taking the California Zephyr to Galesburg, and then a transfer to the Southwest Chief.

Am I crazy, or what? (yes, I probably am)

I am running out of time, so there is a good chance it is not going to happen.

A Map Of The Games Of The XXIII Olympiad (1984)

I found totally by chance, this map of the venues of the XXIII Olympiad. (Click the photo to make it bigger)

I did not go to any of the venues, but I do remember wanting to take a trip to Long Beach, to see Woman's Vollyball.

I was a big fan of volleyball, back in my younger days.

As one would expect, it was almost impossible to get tickets to anything in such a large city as Los Angeles.

Great memories, and I can't wait til 2028.

International Cat Day (2024)

Yesterday, August 8th, was International Cat Day.

In honor of the day, I posted this photo on Facebook, Makenna and her blankie.

I bought it last November, when I was staying with my Son in Michigan.

I already had one, so I gave this one to her.

We share it every evening, even on hot summer nights.

Happy Day kittie.

Halloween Is Coming...At Least At Costco

We did a Costco run on Monday, and this guy was glaring at us.

A friend of mine had been to Costco in Washington, DC on Sunday, and she had wolfman or something doing a similar thing to the shoppers.

So I took a photo of mine, and sent it to her Facebook post.

I guess there will be all sorts of new stuff on lawns all over our neighborhoods this year.

I just don't understand paying hundreds of dollars, price is $199.00 for this one.

Especially since Halloween is a small window of opportunity.

Here is her photo, so you can see it.

Earthquake!

For the first time, I have experienced an earthquake that was told to us in advance.

It was only about 20 seconds warning, but it made a difference, to me knowing we were about to experience it.

I have an app on my phone called Shake Alert and both our phones went off.

Thankfully, it was only a 5.3, above Bakersfield, but it was definitely felt by us here in Santa Clarita.

Life in Earthquake Country.

The Router Is Now Connected, And So Are The Sprinklers!!!

We bought a new router and with help from my Son, we got it operational on Tuesday afternoon.

The one problem, as has happened before, was the sprinkler and lights home page was not able to be logged into on our desktop computer.

I have had that happen before, back in 2018, but we were not sure what exactly was going on.

So on our Sunday call, we took some time to troubleshoot the problem.

One of the first things we realized, was he had unplugged all the Internet wiring to both back bedrooms, when he changed out the hard drive a week or so earlier. He did not think we were using the connections from either room. Wrong Son, the sprinkler system comes through the Den.

So taking photos of the connections, we finally got them plugged into the new router.

Still nothing. Darn!

We then went to this box out in the garage and pressed the top button, that shows you the IP address of the Open Sprinkler.

Yep, it had changed, so we substituted the new IP number for the old one,and immediately we had the home page for our Sprinkler System up on our desktop computer once again.

Isn't tech wonderful...

Panorama Of Niagara Falls

My Water Post For Today.

I am using one of the photos that my Son took at Niagara Falls.

A very lovely panorama of the falls. Click on the photo to make it bigger.

You can see both the American and Canadian back side of the falls, from this view.

Canada is on the left.

I hope you enjoy.

My Summer Duty

This is what I see, 4 times a day.

Makenna eating her wet food.

Due to ants, we are trying to be a bit more attentive to what is going on when we feed her.

Other than the fact that I have to be with her as she eats, she seems to be doing pretty well, health wise.

My only problem is trying to schedule a vacation, sometime in September or October.

Not looking real good, in that regard.

Herb And Butter Rice With Lobster Tails

My store had lobster tails on sale this Friday, and I went for them.

When we went down the rice aisle, I saw Rice-a-Roni herb and butter on sale, so we decided to make it.

I added a bit more butter to the instructions, since it is lobster. :-)

Followed the package directions, and had a break from the same food we normally eat.

Yay!

Woman's Gymnastics (2024)

I watched the finals for the Woman's Gymnastics Team event on Tuesday night.

It was my only Prime Time viewing, since the Opening Ceremony, and it will probably be my last.

The American coverage has always been USA front and center, but it was even worse this year.

I think I might have seen a total of 3 routines of anyone outside the US. Italy was, I think, two of them, and maybe Brazil was the other?

Instead, they kept showing the families of the team members, the A-List actors who were present to watch, and, of course, each got a behind the scenes video of their struggles and life (which is totally normal).

Some of the commercials were done as one would see in NASCAR. A large part of the image was the commercial, and a small box was the event that was being reported on. In the case of this broadcast, it was a swimming event, and adding insult to injury, it was the place where the American was making his move, and got into metal position.

Sorry, I am done.

By the way, congratulations Team USA!

EAA AirVenture

My Son did spend Saturday night at the Osh Kosh airshow.

I watched the beginning of the evening show, and managed to catch this group.

They are the Titan Acrobatic Team, and they were quite good.

My Son got photos of the later planes and groups, but it lost something (IMHO), when the sun set.

He did post a link to his Flicker account, to show off some of the images he got. Check it out on his Facebook page, if you are friends with him.
