Fire!

We know we are going to have a heck of a fire season this year. There has been NO rain to speak of this winter.

I just did not expect it to happen so soon.

This fire started off of I-5 on Wednesday, on the land behind the jail, and so I did not worry too much.

Then it moved to the developent just over the river from where I live, Tesoro Del Valle.

Yeah, the road we take to get to the Walmart my Husband used to work at, which is just 3 miles from our home.

Not real worried, but semi-worried and not happy.

The did lift the evacuations, so I think all is fine now.

Peace Roses (2021)

I went over to the side of the house on Tuesday afternoon and found myself in a garden of roses.

There is nothing better than the first crop of roses, that come out before the summer heat.

This rose is Peace.

I planted it back in 1995 for Uncle Sid (on my Husband's side of the family).

It is always so iridescent with its multicolors of pinks and yellows.

It always brings a smile to my face.

I love it so much.

Huell On The Old KCET Plaza

I just happened to catch the last few minutes of a Huell Howser episode on Monday.

To my utter surprise, he did a stand-up out on the old KCET Plaza.

It brought back a bunch of memories of that place that we left 9 years ago this month.

The fountain is supposedly somewhere in Malibu. Not like I expected to miss it, but yeah, I kind of do.

Two things that aren't there anymore. Huell and the Plaza. Sigh...

Lift Off

We had a rocket launch happen at Vandenberg on Monday.

This photo came my way and I have no idea who took it. I would definitely give credit, if I did.

Too bad we are overcast here, with day 2 of a storm. So no launch view for us.

The Delta IV Heavy lifted off at 1:47PM PDT.

Quite impressive, as you can see.

Land's End Cornwall

My Water Post For Today.

Land's End is the furthest you can go in Great Britain.

My friend, Howard, recently drove to that area and posted photos on Facebook.

It is a beautiful area of Cornwall.

I hope you enjoy.

Mr. Lincoln Is Stunning This Year

Mister Lincoln was my first rose and he sits right in front of the house.

He is small this year, I think time is getting to him.

The other day, short as the plant is, this rose came out.

It is truly stunning and I am glad to see it.

The next month is the absolute BEST time for roses here in Southern California. I look forward to this time eagerly.

Summer will be here before we know it.

Sunset On April 17, 2021

I brought my cell phone outside last weekend, because we had some clouds in the area.

I can always count on clouds being the magic elixir that will make "just another sunset" into a dramatic one.

As it ended up, I was right.

It is usually just chance that I catch the exact moment that the sun disappears behind the mountains and thus creating the beauty that you see in this photo.

I am extremely lucky that I have this view (all $1,000 of it).

Over 35 years I think I have gotten my money's worth out of it.

Makenna In The Afternoon

My girl is so cute in the afternoon.

She used to hide behind the love seat in the den, but now days she sleeps on the rocker.

I caught her today in a pretty serious sleep.

Though when I left to get the camera, she opened one eye. :-)

I am thankful for her presence in our life right now, and I am sure so many others have that same feeling.

It's a peaceful life here, in the angel house and I enjoy every minute.

Lucia Turns 2

My little great niece turned 2 the other day.

In honor of that fact, my nephew and his wife drove down to celebrate with her.

I am not sure where they are, but I assume a local park.

A cool set of drums for my great niece to play with.

I am glad my brother and 2 of his sons got together to celebrate her big day.

The Student Association Attacks Student Run Media

My Twitter feed was full of retweets of this message from the three organizations who distribute media to the campus community and elsewhere.

I am sure the pandemic has brought new challenges to the funding of the school, but for the Student Association to make decisions without input from the organizations involved, is just wrong on so many levels.

We are broadcasters, we are journalists, we are radio and we know how to get the message out. We do so for the school we all share. Some of the most notable alumni are people like Al Roker and Steve Levy. High profile alumni who never waste a chance to point a spotlight on our school and the benefits of attending it.

I don't know the outcome of this whole situation, but if budgets are cut there will be more I am sure.

Good luck WTOP, WYNO, and Oswegonian. All proud news organizations. Get that funding back.

UPDATE!

An article in the local Oswego Paper.

Blueberries Are Coming!

As my garden from seed grows, I keep an eye out on my perennials.

My lemon tree is going to be spectacular this year. Last year was exactly 1 lemon.

My blueberries are coming along. I can see many of them growing, so that I will have large (for my plant) blueberries this year.

So much fun to watch, in the midst of a boring year.

People, keep getting vaccinated, please, I want to go out!

The Fountain At The New York Public Library

My Water Post For Today.

A trip down memory lane. The last time I was in New York City was 2 1/2 years ago, in October of 2018.

We walked by the NY Public Library and spent a bit of time both outside and inside.

As a matter of fact, one of the things we did was go to their gift store. I am wearing my NY Library shirt right now. :-)

This fountain is in the front of the library, near the two lions.

Well worth the trip to see this building.

I hope you enjoy.

The Gophers Are Attacking My Lawn Again

Today is my great niece's 2nd birthday. Happy Birthday, Lucia.

It has been a week.

As I mentioned before, many things broke and got fixed. I had computer trouble on Friday, though what tech support and I ended up doing was uploading the school work via my cell phone app. Sigh.

This back yard (and front yard) problem is particularly bad this year. Gophers.

I am not the only one and so on a Castaic board I follow, they mentioned using cayenne pepper in the hole, to make the gophers go away.

I am not sure if it is going to work, but I bought cayenne pepper for the job.

A Movable Thing

My Son and his Uncle built a kind of go-cart thing, many years ago.

It has been sitting out on the side of my house for several years and since today is household waste day, I asked my Husband to dismantle it, so we could recycle it.

I gave him several days to do it, but (as usual) he waited until Friday to finally do it.

So there he sits, on a lovely afternoon, taking it apart, piece by piece.

Been pretty challenging.

It was well built.

The Fruit Trees (2021)

The two remaining fruit trees are starting to come to life on the side of my yard.

I am sure the squirrels will be thrilled, when fruit appears.

If fruit appears.

All I get is some apricots and some nectarines.

More on that, when the flowers finish blooming.

Ah...spring.
