In an overview of the past 2 weeks of my life, there were a few things of note.
We decided to travel back to LA via AMTRAK, so we ended up selecting a line we had never been on...The California Zephyr.
Even though we started in Syracuse, we basically ended up traveling straight across the entire nation, on this journey. It took 3 full days...plus.
During that time, we visited 12 states. In my case, Nebraska has been added to my States Visited map. We had a detour along the way, basically bypassing most of Colorado, after Denver. They sent us through the state of Wyoming (a new state for my Husband, who is now up to 40 States) to get us around the problem.
So here is my current map. I have 3 states to go!
I feel that I will eventually get to Hawaii, but the others are a bit up in the air.
We are both happy we spent some quality time doing this, but now we are broke. Oh well. :-)
I highly recommend rail travel and am so happy to have been pampered by the crew, over the past 3 days. Now back to the real world of work.
Wow I am impressed, Yeah you are broke, well so are we. We get to sink or swim togeather. :-)
ReplyDeleteIn good news, I have an education and a job, which so many graduates don't have. For the moment at least, I will begin paying back my puny student loan (the money that paid for the trip as it ended up.) It is just that as a member of a family who doesn't go into debt, they hound you about paying back the thing. I just finished having to prove that I understand the repercussions of borrowing money. I know, I am not the demographic they are targeting, but still...
ReplyDeleteAngel is walking along the Santa Clarita River, and she spies a bottle on the ground. She picks up the bottle and out emerges a genie. Offered a wish, Angel wishes to be able to travel by rail to Hawaii.... She asks for a railroad bridge and causeway from Los Angeles (or San Francisco) to Honolulu.
ReplyDeleteThe Genie is dumbfounded. How can I do that? People would notice? Think of the press attention! Consider the environmental impact! No, that's just not possible.
OK, says Angel, then I'd like to have public television fully funded for the next 100 years.
The genie thinks about this and replies, "did you want Narrow Gauge or Standard, to Hawaii."
My laugh for the day!
