I wish I was in Oswego right now, because seeing Lake Ontario always brings back the memories of my first time living up there and hearing the Gordon Lightfoot song about the wreck.
It is a milestone anniversary. 45 years ago, in the midst of a storm, The Edmund Fitzgerald went down.
29 crew went down with it
The Shipwreck Museum is having a virtual memorial ceremony at 7PM (assuming EST). You can check it out, HERE.
"And all that remains is the faces and the names of the wives and the sons and the daughters."
It was a beautiful ceremony.
ReplyDeleteGeoff & I watched last night. It was a great ceremony, they ended it with the song by Gorden LightFoot. the man said that it was the song that made everyone know about the Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald, rather then printing it in a newspaper.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you watched it, too. A wonderful tribute.
