My Dad was Navy.
So to say the least, when these photos of my "other" son without a number turned up on Facebook, I was impressed. There he is, in his Dress Blues, looking just as wonderful as my Dad did, all those years ago.
His real Mom and his sister managed to fly to Chicago for his graduation from Boot.
He got through it well and even has people under his command. Say what? Sorry, it's a frightening thought. I remember when he would do nothing but act like a Ninja. :-)
His first post is Pensacola, Florida.
That sound familiar? Yes, it's where "Other" Son # 1 is located. They hope to get to see each other occasionally.
Congratulations "Other" Son without a number.
May great things come your way.
Angel you are in fact a strange person. Good thing I Love you!!! Who else would???
ReplyDeleteYeah, strange. Your husband has said that for decades. Remember the Pluto off ramp? :-)
ReplyDeleteBTW: The Mom in this photo has two sons, one Marine (21 years old), one Navy (18 years old). Her daughter (19 years old) was just sworn in, by Chuck Yeager, to the Air Force. She cried each time the children went into the service.
I don't envy her.
Congrats to the numberless "son"!
ReplyDeleteI've always found it strange that Navy training takes place in the middle of the country. I mean, I know Lake Michigan's big, but still...
Kudos and many prayers to his Mom, with so many kids in the service.
Piglet: Yeah, I wondered the same thing. Why Chicago? lol
ReplyDeleteI am sure his Mom appreciates your prayers. Especially with President Obama sending more troops over to Afghanistan soon. Yikes!
Yikes, indeed. We just buried a local soldier who was killed at Fort Hood, a 3rd-generation Hmong soldier whose dad and granddad fought against the Viet Cong for the US. He was granted citizenship posthumously.
ReplyDeleteScary stuff.
this is gonna be interesting
ReplyDeleteYep, definitely interesting.
ReplyDeleteIf he acts like a ninja...let me know. :-)
