The past few years we have gotten some white powder on the floor of our garage.
My Son noticed it first and saw that it had a crystalline shape to it.
My Husband and I would sweep it out of the garage, but as long as it would rain, the white powder would come back.
It was very much a winter problem and not really a big deal, so we were surprised to see in our local paper the name of the white powder.
It is called efflorescence.
Here is what Robert Lamoureux had to say.
"It is not indicative of a leak necessarily, it could just be humidity. If this occurs during the rains it’s a sign of humidity and is quite common during the winter."
My Husband and I were so relieved to hear this. We don't have to do anything...well, maybe wash it with some vinegar once in a while.
