Grand Princess Has A Possible Outbreak of Coronavirus

We just cruised on the Grand Princess. Coming into port on February 11th.

The news on Wednesday is that the passengers who followed us after our cruise, had several people come down with the Coronavirus upon their return to the United States and one of the passengers just died.

It ends up that 62 of the passengers who were on the cruise from 2/11 to 2/21, stayed on board the ship to then go to Hawaii. Which means there are worries that the current passengers on the ship are coming down with it.

Now, I feel bad for the passengers, but my Husband and I feel worse for the many crew who we got to know, from the Captain who married us, on down to our room steward.

Everyone was wonderful and we worry about their status.

It is a terrible thing.

You can read more many places, but HERE is one.

  1. Wow! Close call! So *not* what I was expecting to read here this morning!

At least as long as you're posting daily, we'll know you're OK. In the meantime, *Stay well* wishes to both of you...

Even though where I'm based there have been no COVID-19 cases yet (that I know of), I've still been trying to develop the good habit of more frequent and thorough handwashing and staying relatively isolated at home alone for longer stretches. (Easier to do in the winter, mild though this one has been.)

  2. Hi Dim Skip, I totally understand the sheltering in place mentality, I was going to be traveling during April and I decided last week to skip it (which saddens me no end). Too many variables going on right now and I don't want to get caught up in it all. Minus shopping and gym, we try to stay around the house. Note, we were washing our hands all the time on the ship and we both ended up with a cold. Hubby on day 3 and me on day 15. Both fine now. Thank God!
