A Quick Update

As you can see from the latest test, we here in the Angel House are mostly over our bout with COVID-19.

It hit my Husband worse than me, but he did not get Paxlovid and I did.

In my case, I recovered, but symptoms came back a few days later.

No symptoms now and so I think I am on the good side of it all.

We had an appointment for the cat and since we seemed to be OK, we went in and masked while there.

Tomorrow, we get our haircut.

If we are still feeling good, we will return to gym on Wednesday. If not, some other time.

  1. I'm glad! Although I checked back and it looks to me like this is the first you mentioned hubby got it also. (Not that that's surprising with omicron and being in close proximity in the same household.)

Would you care to explain the test results shown above, please? What do the "C," the "T," the "line/no line" underneath those letters, the "15 mins," and the "3 Drops" mean? Thanks. (Just curious as I've not actually seen such home tests in person.)

Also... So, do you think the Paxlovid may have been beneficial and/or worth it? Again, just wondering your opinion(s) since you sort of did your own in-house "experiment."

I have a (should be) routine doctor's appointment tomorrow, just a 6-month checkup. But I plan to request both a flu shot and the newest formula COVID booster.

  2. Hi Dim Skip! I have no idea what the C and T mean, but if you don't get both, you are not positive. You get a swab that goes up your nose for 5 times each nostril, and then you put it into some chemical that is provided to you. squeeze 3 drops into the hole you see and wait 15 minutes for the result. As to Paxlovid, it brought the symptoms under control faster, but they decreased and then increased for another day or so. They cause a horrible taste in your mouth, but that is better than being hospitalized, so I guess it was worth it for me. My Husband did not get it because by the time Monday came around it was day 3 for him and that is too late for the Paxlovid. Happy this is OVER and yes, get both shots tomorrow.

  3. OK, thanks for the info. Interesting. Good to know.

  4. “It's imperative that you get a line under the “C.” It lets you know that the test is working.” If there's no line under “C,” you'll need to re-test,” Alvarado explained. If the area under the “T,” or test section, has no line at all, that means it's negative for COVID-19.Feb 7, 2022

  5. And so do I. Thanks again. And glad you both are through it.

Just found out today that my cousin and her husband also are dealing with COVID. They are in their early and mid-70s. They never had COVID before, but have been well-vaccinated and twice-boosted. They will be fine, but will be getting the updated bivalent booster when they can. **She** had travelled recently while **he** went to a annual local fireman's convention at the shore. **He** got sick and picked her up at the airport when she returned from her travels. So of course it was COIVD and of course it was inevitable that she got it too, being in the same vehicle and household. I'm assuming he wasn't diligent enough about masking.

As for me, I did get my flu shot at the doc, but the office doesn't do COVID vaccinations/boosters for some reason. So I went to my local Walmart on the way home and got the latest COVID-Bivalent booster. (That's how I got my first booster back in November. For the record, every shot I've gotten has happened to be Pfizer.)
