Probably the longest goodbye that we have ever seen at work, comes to an end today. The man who works in the office next door, leaves our company after a 10 year run. He and I have been office neighbors for about 4 years and it has been an interesting experience, to say the least. Last year, he put together the graphics package for our newest channel, so they gave him an entire edit system in his office. The thing is HUGE! When he forgets to keep the sound low, I get blasted by the audio on these speakers! I guess I forgive him for taking years off my life, whenever he does that, since I really like him a lot. He was born and raised in Upstate NY, which is where I did my college education. I sit there sometimes and figure out that he was probably around 6 or so, when I was becoming an adult. It is scary and I try not to dwell on it too much, though. We share that...and an obvious love of broadcasting. It has made a good working relationship, over the years.
A few years ago he married a former worker at the station and they now have a beautiful 2 year old daughter. The real estate boom these past few years has taken a toll and he and his family feel that they will do better living in Hawaii, then staying in Los Angeles. So off they go to paradise, or their version of it on the island of Maui. Quite a change for them but I wish them nothing but the best. Need some graphics work done...he's your go to guy.
Gonna miss ya! Good luck and come visit once in a while.
