Costa Rican Birds, AKA The Real Toucan Sam

More photos from my friend's anniversary trip to Costa Rica.

My friend spent time communing with many wild creatures. Of the many she took photos of, I especially love the birds.

I particularly enjoyed seeing a real Toucan.

I find it totally amazing that they are actually those bright colors in real life. I always thought the cereal box exaggerated a bit. :-)

These birds are Crested Oropendolas.
The male of the species, has a very bright yellow tail and a mostly black body. The females are (of course) more brown and dull. Isn't it always the way...

I never heard of them, but you can read a bit about them HERE.

They are feeding (according to my friend) on a bizarre shaped bird feeder.

I hope you enjoyed a quick trip to Central America. Tomorrow will be the first of 2 water posts, this one, a sunset. The final one will turn up next week, when I will have a totally different kind of water post from her trip.
