This was my apricot tree a week ago. I have not seen so many baby apricots in years.
Now, I like apricots as much as the next man (or woman), but my tree has some sort of fibrous substance in the apricots and so I do not usually eat them.
Of course, that is, if I can keep the squirrels, gophers and raccoons away from them. Now, the Santa Rosa plums, I would fight them for. Unfortunately for me, that tree blew down in a wind storm last year. It was the only tree I ate fruit from...darn!
But I digress.
I originally planted the tree in 1995 in honor of my Husband's Mom. They had an apricot tree when they lived in Fresno, so many years ago. I thought it would be a nice connection to the farming area he grew up in. Too bad about the fibrous stuff.
Anyway, we shall see how big a crop I get and hey, maybe they will surprise me this year. :-)
Sounds nice :-)
ReplyDeleteI shall photograph them again, later on...if the critters don't get to them first, of course. :-)
ReplyDeleteOne can only hope:-)
