Southern Pacific Railroad Engine 1673

One of the things of interest at Tucson, Arizona train station is Southern Pacific Railroad Engine 1673.

After being built in NY, it traveled to Arizona and called Tucson home for its working life.

It spent the better part of the 20th Century working and then was retired to its home base and eventually settled in a covered area built by the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum.

I am sure I would have learned more about it, had the museum been open. Unfortunately, we were dropped off too late for that.

It was good to see it, finally, and by the way, it is also home to the cats who live at the station.

I got a few photos of the cats, the morning we arrived. There were none to be found in the evening of our departure.
