Theodore Roosevelt Legislative Office Building

This is where the Nassau County Legislature meets.

In my entire 24 years of living on Long Island, I never saw this place and never even knew it existed. I had to go to the Courthouse, which is right down the street from this building and so I couldn't resist taking a few photos of it. It dates back from the 1900 and it has a wonderful statue of Teddy Roosevelt out front. They recently restored and renamed the building, in honor of the man who laid the cornerstone for the building over 100 years earlier. He was Governor, at the time of the the dedication and running for Vice President of the United States. He would, of course go on to become President.

It's a wonderful window into the past and I was glad to see it.

  1. What a fantastic building! I'd love to have a look at the facial expression on that statue of TR; the body "expression" is fabulous.

Thanks also for your posts over the weekend of the Veterans' Memorial. It's beautiful, and reminds of what our citizenship demands of us: at the very least to look and acknowledge those who have died defending our ideals. Brava.

  2. I think that's the closest one I have of TR.

Thanks so much for enjoying it.

    Flying back tomorrow. Yay!
