Today is the day when we celebrate our Last Mass in our Multipurpose Room. It was only supposed to take 3 years and instead it took over 11. A generations time for the children of Kateri, who don't know when to kneel at a Mass. Boy are they going to have a rude awakening, when they have to kneel next week. :-)
I am out of town in NY, so this photo was actually taken the week before, on September 12th. I am one for total truth, so I let you know this. But since I am in NY, this was indeed MY last Mass in Kateri...
This room seats 600 and our new Church will be the second largest in Los Angeles. It will hold over 1,200. It's going to be quite a change for our humble parish.
Blessings on the changes and all that comes with change. I used to carry a card in my wallet that said "Change always comes bearing gifts." I used to add to that, but sometimes the packaging is hard to deal with. I hope it all goes well.
ReplyDeleteMany prayers for your parish community!
Safe travels!!!
Fran, I like your idea about the packaging!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful changes (and challenges) ahead for your parish, Angel! I can hardly wait to see pictures of your new sanctuary. I've been very fortunate to have never been in a parish where we didn't have a "proper" church, and for most of my life have been in parishes that rejoice in having both an upper and a lower church, or a main church and a chapel large enough for a hundred people or so to attend Mass.
An exciting time, one that I hope both brings your parish family closer together and expands it as never before.
Like you, Piglet, I was thinking of joining the adult Choir. I heard that they need more members, due to having a HUGE choir section. When do the reherse? When my son's Mass in in session. So now I am torn, do I help my son and the other man...or do I practice and then sing for the next Mass? Questions and not any answers quite yet.
ReplyDeleteFran: Thanks so much for the kind words and yes, let's hope that the change come with no more packaging problems. :-)
It's a stunning edifice and I can't wait to take a few photos of it.
