Round And Round And Round In The Circle Game

Ok, I KNOW Google hightlighted these things on September 15th.

This is the first time I ever saw one from the air. Being that they had just been highlighted, I immediately stopped what I was doing and grabbed the camera.

I have no idea where I might be, but my best guess is Colorado.

I was pretty impressed that I found some.

How cool.

  1. I will admit to missing the google boat... what are these?

  2. Something called Crop Circles. It's a big mystery as to why Google highlighted them. Still and all, I thought it was interesting to see something that I had just seen on Google, from the air.

  3. OK, I knew that they were crop circles but I thought that there might be something else up about it with the google thing!

A number of years ago, two friends of mine built a labryinth made of small stone pathways in my backyard. My neighbor's kid was playing along the border between our yards a day or so later. He then ran home and told his mom that there was a crop circle next door!

It is me Fran, but I am at work and thus anonymous!

  4. I wonder if they're irrigated areas. Some irrigators water a big circle like that.

    Water treatment facility?

I've always wondered about 'em, too, when I've seen them from overhead.

  5. Those are not crop circles. They are sprinkler footprints. The crops are grown around a radial sprinkler. One sees them all over the "flyover" states.

Crop circles are patterns cut IN fields of crops.

I believe that all the interesting Google Logos we've seen recently were leading up to H.G. Wells' birthday.

  6. Ah, is that it? So what I saw wasn't a crop circle?

More on HG Wells and Google is here.
