Santa Clarita Turns 30

It has been a busy week here in the Angel house and suddenly the 30th Birthday had come and almost gone, before I remembered it.

I did not want to let it get too far in my rear view mirror before acknowledging it.

30 years ago:

I was married for 7 1/2 years and had lived in The Santa Clarita Valley for that exact time.

My son was still 3 years into the future.

I could not work in this valley, due to lack of jobs and so I was working in LA.

All these things added to my voting for Cityhood.

I wanted a safe and active place to raise potential children.

I wanted jobs that would not take 1 hour or more to get to.

I wanted people in charge who knew what it was like to live here.

I got all those things (minus my job moving up here) when Cityhood came.

It has not been without its problems, but all in all, I believe we are much better off then we were in 1980 (when I arrived).

Onward and upward.
