I have been a member of LA Fitness for 2 months now.
This is the first time I have ever joined a gym and I have a few things to say about the experience.
I am definitely glad I joined.
I am so incredibly happy with their pool and with their Aqua Fit class. I am trying to shift my workday a bit, to avail myself of the morning swim class on Tuesday and Thursday. It's at 9AM and I would have to drive in on those days...or take the day off. :-)
I am now a standard feature at the Saturday Class and that has consistently been the one I have been at, vacations and sickness being the only things to keep me away. Even my Magic son waits for the class to end, before we go down to the Magic Castle.
I have done 2 yoga classes, but I am having trouble getting home prior to 8PM on the nights that the class is in session. The Unit (a TV show I watch) is on the best night for yoga, Wednesday. They don't have a class on Tuesday or Friday, so that leaves Monday and Thursday. We will see if I can manage one of them sometime. I was planning on making the Sunday Morning one my standard class and then they moved my Mass at church to 9:30AM. Trying to get to a yoga class at 11AM is almost impossible. Oh well.
So for me, who is not a weight lifter, I am doing OK using what I have purchased. Hopefully I can build on this and improve my health and fitness.
Best of luck/success on your fitness regimen.
ReplyDeleteBeyond that I'll just say that it's important (I think) to try to stick with it, but also not to beat yourself up if for whatever reasons you end up missing a time or two (or three). In other words, just try not to get discouraged if the routine gets derailed a time or two here and there. Just remember that it's important to simply do what you can when you can. At least for me, that leaves me in a more relaxed mode about exercise. Then again, others may need to have that to-the-second scheduled discipline, others may need the camaraderie, and still others simply need to maximize the bang per buck when an actual membership is involved, so whatever works for you (and I assume you know you best). So forget I said anything other than the good wishes. As long as you enjoy it and it sounds like you do...
:-)
I'd been wondering if you were watching The Unit on wednesdays. I am, but for me they're new since I only jumped on the show mid-third season.
Locally, though, it looks like tonight's 9 PM episode is being preempted for a Phillies "Road to the Repeat" special since the same channel carries some of the regular season Phillies games. I assume it's just a rah-rah cheerleading show with season and playoff highlights to date.
I'm a Phils fan, but hearing or seeing the actual games is sufficient for me, I don't need to bask in the adrenalin-fueled euphoria. Besides, I'm not expecting them to actually repeat. That's extremely hard for any team to do and traditionally the Phils only win it all every quarter century or so of late (not even quite that).
Thanks my friend. You give me support when I need it. I do feel like I am harder on myself, if I miss something. So now I will just take it as it comes and enjoy the time and the health benefits.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am watching The Unit and being I have not seen these episodes in years, or some not at all. My son says to me, you call yourself a Unit Fan? lol
I missed the one that aired second the first week. True Believers, I think. So that was brand new to me.
In other things I didn't realize until I saw it again, the photo, the infamous photo, of Colonel Ryan and Tiffy was obviously taken in that Washington, DC hotel room. Who knew?
Well, obviously my son did.
Good for you! I am very impressed, this is excellent to read about.
ReplyDeleteFor so many years - travel, commuting and all this other stuff, I always went to the gym. I moved here and was unemployed - and I went to the gym.
Last year I started school and not too far beyond that I started my new job and then I did not go to the gym.
Nor have I for most of a year.
I think you may inspire me!!
