For those waiting for this big moment, here it is. The first 9:30AM Mass in the new Church. We got the news mid week.
The Church finally had it's Certificate of Occupancy and we were cleared (a week late) to take possession and make it ours. I had not been in it for months and the finished product, as you can see, is stunning!

I did not feel it was appropriate to shoot photos during the Mass, so 2 of these photos were obviously taken before we began.
I did sneak one photo of our Music Ministry playing during the Offertory Collection. I didn't feel it took away from the solemn occasion, by doing so then.

Singing is soloist, Madeline Neumann. Playing the new keyboard is Reality Show king, David Vanacore. Madeline's brother, Rich is playing the box percussion.
We also have a guitar and a bass player.
It will take a bit of tweaking, but they looked good.
Next week...the Children's Choir. ACK!
What a beautiful worship space -- wood, stone, and natural light. You guys must be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteAh, the children's choir, the bane of my existence. I'm sure their parents think they're adorable. I just know they sing off-key, and for someone with perfect relative pitch, that's agonizing. Adorable doesn't even enter into it.
Children's Choir: I totally understand...but sometimes you just have to roll with it. The thing that makes it worth it, is seeing someone who didn't know they would love it, become an accomplished singer in their later life.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love the wood, stone and natural light. No stained glass, but at this time, I don't miss it.
Oh my- it looks so lovely. I am on a committee about church architecture etc, stained glass while nice is not always essential. And it can come later.
ReplyDeleteOne of my professors last year was the art director for the LA cathedral. I learned a lot from him.
Thanks for sharing these, I look forward to more.
Thanks for the kind words, Fran.
ReplyDeleteI am sure your friend who worked on the Cathedral, has stories to tell... :-)
Oh Angel! It's beautiful! Maybe I could come see it in two weeks? Hmmmm? Would you like a quick visit, maybe?
ReplyDeleteTim Hallinan's final stop on his new book tour is La Canada Flintridge on 10/15. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? :^D
Cindy, yes!
ReplyDeleteI have to drive to work that day, so I am sure we could work something out. Call me!
