I have been going on and on about my Dad's Father for the past few days, but I would like to switch gears to my Mom and her family.
Along with Grandpa's framed painting, came a box of photos and stuff and one very large photo of my Mom and her family. Another of those very formal things from back in the mid 30's, when she was quite young. She was the youngest child in her family. The thing is huge and has been taped and scratched, but it's still wonderful to look at, all these years later.
I love looking at the shoes, myself. :-)

This is teenage Mom, when she was in High School.
The back of the photo says 1939, but I would think it was in the 40's, because that was when she was in High School.
Sitting on the stairs of a Brownstone in Brooklyn, NY.
Pretty cool find.
I see the resemblance! Lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteYeah, definitely some resemblance, though I take after Dad more. Thanks Fran.
ReplyDeleteVery cool, and there's no way you can deny you're her daughter, with that smile! It's always fun seeing those old pictures and family resemblances. I ran into a picture of my maternal grandma recently, taken when she was probably about 13 or 14, and finally figured out why everyone in my family thought I looked so much like her. :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah and then there are those days when you look in the mirror and you see that you look exactly like your mother and you go ACK! :-)
ReplyDeleteA daughter's worst nightmare. lol
I'm thinking your Mom is my Aunt Lou. I'll dig up some pictures and we'll compare on Thursday, okay?
ReplyDeleteWorks for me. Can't wait to see you.
