My husband's army buddy and his wife have been married for 40 years. We acknowledged that fact back in August and thought that that was that...not so fast, wombat breath.
The son gets in contact with us and tells us to cancel our Thanksgiving plans. They need us to instead come over between Christmas and the New Year, for a surprise 40th Anniversary party.
We immediately get on board with this and as a matter of fact, we are the ones who got to keep them away for the day and make sure they arrived on time.

Amazingly, it went like clockwork and they were totally surprised. So surprised, that my husband's army buddy was speechless!
If you know him, this is almost impossible to comprehend.
He always has something knowledgeable to say and says it. :-)
It was a good time with smoked meats, made lovingly by his son and cheesecake, made lovingly by his daughter. Lots of drinks and lots of laughs. We had a great time.
A great set of parents and a great set of children. Thanks for being a part of our lives.
Congratulation, to Bill & Marie, I am so glad everything went off so well... :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks. The hardest part was sitting in the back seat of the car while people we knew were going to be at the party, called and made plans to get together with them. We were just snickering silently.
ReplyDeleteWhen we got to the house, they only saw one car on the street, so the surprise held.
Even the babies didn't give it away. Yay babies!
