Fresno City College's 100th Birthday

We are up in Fresno, this morning.

Why, you may ask?

My Husband spent most all of his growing up years in Fresno, CA. Though born in Chicago, the place he remembers the most...is Fresno.
Grapes drying on the ground and slowly becoming raisins, wine making, home canning, farm land, Yosemite Park, where they would go up to in order to cut down evergreen trees, to sell for the Boy Scouts. These are his memories. If you ever watched George Lucas' film, American Graffiti, that was his time.

We don't get there often, but once a decade or so, the call of the San Joaquin Valley gets to him and thanks to Facebook, the call has gotten even louder.

He learned that his Junior College is celebrating its 100th Anniversary as the first Junior College in the State of California. For Fresno, that is pretty impressive. They are used to San Francisco and Los Angeles being the first to do things, especially in higher education. They may have had distinguished 4 year schools, but Fresno Junior College was the first 2 year.

They are having a BIG do at 9AM today and we plan to be there...in a stadium that seats 10,000. Yikes!
