Happy St. Joseph's Day

Happy St. Joseph's Day!

As an East Coast girl, I had never been part of anything having to do with a feast for St. Joseph. When I arrived in Santa Clarita and began going to Mass, I found out that the Italian Catholic Federation at OLPH Parish would put on something called St. Joseph's Table each year. Free spaghetti and roll for all who came. Extra goodies for a price and what goodies they were. Home baked breads, cannoli, struffoli and lots of Italian music and fellowship. We went every year and enjoyed the Italian "Vibe", though sadly, it no longer takes place. No young blood, to keep the tradition going.

Today, I remember St. Joseph and his day and the good times I had, at St. Joseph's Table.

  1. Hooray for St. Joseph the Worker!! An ex-Jesuit friend and I were just talking about this feast yesterday. It was always noted in my family: everyone worked, a job was a blessing, so we gave thanks to the patron of workers everywhere. It's a good memory that I haven't thought of in years -- thanks to Mike and to you for "remembering it to me".

  2. I always loved that Norm Abram was referred to as the most famous carpenter after St. Joseph.

    Good weekend to you. :-)
