A happy Palm Sunday and a Happy beginning of Passover, on Monday night.
After a 2 month hiatus, St. James is on my creative agenda.
When last you saw James, he had a green face and just a first coat of paint.
This month I managed to learn to make the egg emulsion by myself and to mix paints (also by myself). In learning these things, I might have the ability to work on him at home.
Being a part of a week class last time, the different lights and floats were pre-mixed by the instructor. We learned nothing, in this regard.
So I am slowly getting the hang of all the mixing and the preparation of the egg.
The egg is very interesting, on its own. You break the egg and get rid of the white (all of it). To get rid of the final part that is clinging to the yolk, you sort of sit it on a paper towel and then let it kind of roll downhill a bit.
Then you pinch the yolk and drop it into your container. Add a half a cap full of wine (cheap white is fine) and then about the same amount of distilled water. We had a mini single serve wine bottle, so estimate accordingly.
Mix and you are set to add the egg mixture to your paints, as you go along.
He now has first light on him and first float.
Oh and he has hair now. Woot!
There is still much to do.
