Ruby Baby

Jerry Leiber, half the writing team of Leiber and Stoller, passed away this week, in Los Angeles. As a duo, they had an incredible catalog of hits that they wrote during the 50's and 60's, including Hound Dog, that was eventually recorded by Elvis Presley.
You can read all about them and him in this very well done article from the Daily News HERE.

Of all the Steely Dan and solo CD's by both Donald and Walter, the one I had the hardest one appreciating, was The Nightfly. I could never understand why, but thankfully for me, I got over that and it is now one of my favorites. :-)
One of the songs that Donald Fagen sang, was a cover of the song Ruby Baby, by Leiber and Stoller.

In a tribute to Jerry Leiber, I have a link to Donald's version HERE.

Enjoy Ruby Baby.

  1. Sorry it took so long to read the Blog, but yesterday was not a very good day for Geoff and I. It started with me once again falling down, and as I was sitting on the floor trying to figure out my next move, the door opens up and in walks Geoff he is not feeling good and came home. Geoff no longer able to help me up any more, but we finally got me up. He spent the day trowing up, but I really did not want to move from the chair, so I never looked at the Blog which I sometimes don't understand you, I love The Nightfly I always have and always will, sometimes I do not understand.... :-)
