Day 2 of L.A. at Christmas time.
This is Grand Park.
It was just opened last month and it is the newest one in the City of Los Angeles. What that means is that, obviously, we had never seen it.
It is situated between The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and City Hall. Just to give you a general idea, this sign is right across the street from The Dorothy Chandler. There is a HUGE fountain right there (which will be showcased as a water post, early next year).
The sign did not photograph well. From afar, it looks like all the letters are green, but when you get close up, you can see they are cut outs with green behind them. It's not as pretty as when I initially saw it, but we didn't want to cross busy Grand Avenue again, just for the photo.
About half way through the park, we came to the grouping of somewhat whimsical Christmas trees.
I almost felt like they could easily have been in a Dr. Seuss book, but maybe I am reading too much in their look.
What made me take the photo from this angle, was the fact that City Hall was peaking between the trees, almost looking like a shadowy "4th" tree.
Yes, those palm trees in the back and desert plantings in front of the trees scream the fact that this display could only be in Southern California...but I am good with that. :-)
Enjoy...
Day 3 tomorrow.
