It is exactly one week until Christmas. Each day I will highlight a different area of Los Angeles and the many trees that I have seen this holiday season.
Today is day 1.
My Husband and I took a day off from chores and walked around the Downtown area of Los Angeles. More then almost anyplace else, I feel the holidays the most, right here. 8 years working at The Dorothy Chandler on Christmas Eve, did that to me.
It is not 5th Avenue in NYC, but I love it.
I decided to start where the trip began and also at the location I would see every year, for about 11 years. Los Angeles Union Station. As a seasoned traveler, I know that every year the tree is different and I wanted to see this year's display.
Due to a complex arrangement, my son, who had to go to school for the day, took my Husband with him as he rode the train Downtown. After I dropped them off, I drove to North Hollywood and rode the subway to Union. That left our car available for us to drive over to my Brother in Law's house, after our business was over in Downtown. In case you care, the arrangement worked out perfect. My Husband waited all of 2 minutes for me to arrive. Now that's timing!
The wreaths outside look nice, but the real gem in Union, is the 25 foot tall tree, that they have in the waiting room.
People come and go and so many stop for a moment, to take photos. Wide eyed children get their photo taken in front of the tree.
It adds such a warm holiday spirit, to the incredible beauty that is Union Station.
More tomorrow.
