Back in June, I went to visit the new digs of a former KCET Host and Producer, Huell Howser.

As I mentioned in the post, he has definitely slowed down a bit, this past year. He was making shows, but mostly just repeating old ones. Our viewers didn't mind, they love to see him.
The news came out last week, that for whatever reason, Huell Howser has decided to call it quits. He is retiring from producing shows and from any public appearances.
He used to spend his LA time in his apartment in Hollywood, but instead he has retired to his home in the Palm Springs area. From what I understand he does not come into town anymore.
There are rumors going around that he may be ill. I have no direct knowledge of that fact...but as you can see in THIS article in the LA Times, some of the things being said, point to this.
I hope those rumors are not true, because he is a truly wonderful man and I am proud to call him my friend.
I saw that article in the Times and I worried. At the same time, I can understand Huell wanting to get off the treadmill.

DeleteThank you for posting this information about Huell. I've been a big fan of his for years and loved his California's Gold show. Happy for him that he can retire and enjoy a more leisurely lifestyle now, but sure will miss him on TV.
