One of the most beautiful places to visit, is Union Station during the holiday season. Being the station is so huge, they are able to have a really tall tree at the entrance to the station. This year, instead of presents under the tree, they have a green sparkling train set ringing it. It is quite lovely, but due to that fact, they have a white picket fence around the entire thing, which makes shooting it, just a bit challenging.
The main concourse has wreaths in each window and a giant one on the sign directing passengers to the trains. It's not gaudy at all. Just understated elegance and so very well done. Add the Christmas songs, performed by the Salvation army and it's such a nice atmosphere that we are greeted by, each day of the month. Unfortunately, they also allowed Starbucks to cover the tunnel with a huge ad for their coffee, ah well, you can't have everything.
