The latest casualty of this economic downturn is the local Blockbuster Video. It closed its doors on Monday and I saw that they are moving the racks and things out. It is a great location, so I am hoping something comes along soon. I mentioned the fact that Uncle Jer's right across the street from the Blockbuster is also currently closed, though they are working on a really cool coffee shop.
This is another trend in my work neighborhood.
Medical Marijuana being sold in multiple locations along Sunset. This one and another one are right across the street from one another.
How many do you need? Seriously?
I keep hoping the economy improves soon and things get better here on Sunset Blvd. I heard that someone at the local Vons actually got a raise, so maybe there is hope. lol
In spite of it all, I will miss the old neighborhood, which I leave in 3 weeks.
1) What's a Vons?
ReplyDelete2) Does this post NOT being a MegaMillions followup mean you (and anyone in your family) DIDN'T win the big one?
:^)
Oh, this does make me sad. I hope that things turn around... my old hood, how I miss it.
ReplyDeleteDim Skip: Sorry, Vons is the local Market. Owned by Safeway, a west coast grocery. A long story goes with this. Safeway died in SoCal, due to (what I found to be true) less then pristine produce, among other things. We did not miss it at all, when it left. Decades later, Safeway bought the Vons chain and they realized that we down in SoCal probably would not shop in their stores, if they changed the name...so they learned something from the Vons employees and kept the Vons name. It has worked for us.
ReplyDeleteFran: I deliberately posted this on a weekend, to make sure you saw it. Yeah, sad.
As to the Mega Millions...we got 2 numbers. Sigh...
