Bottlenecks

This is a pet peeve of mine.

My city put them in recently, so I am familiar with what they are, they are called Bottlenecks.

These are located in the Media District of Burbank and I see several of them, as I cross the street on the way to work.

They are built to make using the side streets prohibitive to people who are trying to drive to work or home from work and they do this by blocking a lane of traffic.

I personally think it is a horrible idea and why would anyone make it more difficult and more dangerous to drive around?

It is also known as traffic calming, or putting the road on a diet (which is taking one lane away and making it a full lane for bikes).

I read that they want to slow traffic on the Hyperion Bridge in LA, by narrowing the traffic lanes. Say what?

I think that is a horrible idea, especially since there are curves on that bridge.

It amazes me how stupid traffic engineers can be.

Of course, no one listens to me...
