By The Sea, By The Sea, By The Beautiful Sea

Last Saturday we spent a few hours in the Ventura Beach area of the California Coast. It always amazes me that I live just an hour away, but I manage to get there so seldom. It's a less crowded area of the Coast, and worth the trip, but busy lives, keep me away, I guess.
When my guy and I went on our first weekend away, he took me to Ventura. There are several campgrounds along the 101 Freeway, where you are parked on old Hwy 1 and within feet of the water. We parked his truck with it's camper shell on the road along one of the beaches and had a spectacular time, just sitting there, watching the waves come in. We had one of those views that people kill for and spend millions building houses by.

We had that view, for something like $10 a day. It was fabulous.
I have to admit that my guy pulled out all the stops, when we were dating. This was also the trip when he brought me to my first airshow and changed my world. :-)

Back to last week, our friends from Phoenix are with us and the five of us walk along the water for about a half mile or so, with the beach, almost to ourselves. My son, engineer type that he is, checks out the pipes for the dredger, that are stacked along our stretch of beach. It was perfect there, not too windy, warm and the sun was just starting to do it's going down thing, so the angle of the sun was great for some really nice photos.

We even had a few surfers, to watch, though some of them didn't seem to be very knowledgeable, cause all they seemed to do was pose at the water line. All in all, a nice way to spend an hour of my life. I wish it were more.

I hope you enjoy the photos and of course, click on them, for bigger images.

  2. I talked to my friend who lives in Santa Monica and he said he rarely gets out to the beach, either. I felt better.

Thank you for the comment. It is a lovely place.
