I have a friend, Gina, who I have mentioned before. We both hang out in the Steely Dan Universe. As such, we have been exposed to many musicians and music. One of the things that has come from the people on these boards, are 4 Steely Dan Compilations. These CD's were recordings, mostly original, of songs by posters to the board called, "Under The Banyan Trees". I own 3 of them and enjoy much of the music on them, but I had not heard any of them lately. Yesterday, I took a look at a mutual friend of ours' My Space page and there in his music choices, was this one song from the third CD, Steely Knives (yes, Steely Knives as in the Eagles Hotel California line and nod to Steely Dan. "They Stabbed it with their Steely Knives, but they just can't kill the beast".)
Gina's contribution to this CD is a wonderful song called "Symphony's Blues". As I said, I hadn't heard it in at least a few years and to hear it after all the time that has passed, I was amazed all over again how really good it is. My favorite song of hers and I am sure the fact that our mutual friend, Clas and his son, produced it and played on it, is the reason it sounds so professional.
Gina Explains How the recording happened:
"Symphony’s Blues was chosen for Steely Knives (the third guestbook CD, produced by Schwinn aka Brett Barney) and was recorded in Stockholm, after a 2 hour flight, in a 2 hour session and in just 2 takes.
You’ll have to check this one out on the Dom Fegaste website!"
I hope you do, because it is a wonderful song.
