SCIDM - Southern California Invitational Drill Meet

Southern California Invitational Drill Meet is next up, for my son's Airforce JROTC. I had 3 of his friends "sleeping" over last night, with an Anchorman film festival going on. They seem amused with the potty humor. :-)

The meet takes place at Angel's Stadium in Anaheim. It seems somehow appropriate for me to be attending. There is a home show going on in the stadium itself and free shuttles to Downtown Disney, in operation throughout the day. It should be an interesting, as well as unusual, day.

Finally back at home and on a drizzly day in Anaheim, we managed to come away with 4 awards. 2 for Unarmed Drill (my son and his friends team), but we also got 2 for Armed Drill (We are not sure if it is for Sword or Rifle). The amazing thing about these 4 awards is that 3 of them are for 1st Place!!!!!!!

I believe this is the Award List:

1st Place Unarmed Regulation
3rd Place Unarmed Sweeps (the combined scores for Inspection, Regulation and Exhibition)
1st Place Armed Regulation
1st Place Armed Sweeps

We are very happy for the kids, some of whom had to overcome some major problems. Besides illnesses (several had been at the NASCAR Event last weekend) and such, they also had to deal with a missing Team Commander.


This final picture is of my son and his friend. They worked support and took pictures to historian this event. The team commander and some of Drill were posing with the awards and then suddenly the commander called for the other two and brought them into the picture. It was so nice of him to acknowledge the two members who go to each practice, but who did not perform today.
