I have spent this entire 3 day weekend cleaning up the CD's and VHS tapes we have accumulated over the past 20 or so years. They are just covered with dust and dirt, good thing we used to buy cases to put the VHS tapes in, back when we had money (pre-kid). I have a little room in the new piece we bought, but the vast majority of the VHS tapes, I ended up putting onto the old TV stand that I have just relocated to the bay window in the formal Living Room.
All cleaned up, it came out looking fairly nice and a bonus, you can run the fireplace and watch TV at the same time. :-)
Here are a couple of pictures.
The top one is the new unit that resides in our family room. It is actually a piece for the Dining Room (I believe it's called a Side Board), but we thought it worked just fine for our big screen TV. Hubby liked the fact that it had a shelf for the DVD/VHS Player and I totally agreed.
The second photo is of the Living Room as it looks now. Those file folders will be leaving, just as soon as I figure out where to put them. For now, they are out of the way and you can finally walk around again. We have had the old couch and love seat taking up space in this area, for the past week. Hopefully, this will be it for change, at least for a while. My budget can't take too many hits like this. What to do with the Christmas tree next year, is anybodies guess. At least I have 10 months to figure that out. :-)
