We're back and richer by 9 awards, including a 2nd Place award for our Color Guard Team and the same for our Sword Team. Considering we had almost no time for the teams to get their routines together, this is awesome work and we are proud. A bit on the day.
The guys had, on average, about 2 hours sleep and yes, the day was cold to begin with. It was 39 degrees, when we arrived at 6:30A (we were a bit late). We were still the first to arrive at Polly. Set up, practice and eating of food occurred all morning and then the competitions began. Things went as we would expect and when we finished the routines, we broke down the campsite. With nothing more to do, the kids looked like they were beginning to crash, but that was not destined to happen. Due to the rain that was scheduled to come this afternoon, we were told that they moved the awards ceremony to 3P and located it inside the gym. The team quickly gathers together and with parents in tow, heads on over. I don't remember who won what, but Drill won 2, Color Guard won 1, Rifle won several Sword one at least 1, there were some individual winners, too. We were out at 4:30P and on the road, when the first of the drizzle began. This made us all very happy, because at least we were all dry and inside the car. Most of the rain actually held off, until right now, 8P when we are all snug at home. The rain is expected to be very heavy tonight and tomorrow.
