This is my son, back in the audio booth at Church. He was in a much better mood on this day, rather then the night before and so he could joke and I could actually take a photo. That was not the case on Christmas Eve.
I asked weeks ahead, if they wanted us to get in before the call time of 3PM. I was told not to bother, just come in 1 hour ahead of the Mass and all would be well...yeah, right.
We got there a few minutes before 3P and we had lots to do. It ended up being almost 80 singers. Young children on the risers and the high school choir in front of them, singing 2 to a mike. The soloist used her mike, not only to sing on, but then to solo some of the children. The children were various sizes and ages and the mike took a real beating, going up and down. We had, not only a full band, but extras and we never did get to trouble shoot the entire thing. That resulted in the priest having no sound, the bass having no sound and the sax having no sound.
It took a good 5 or 10 minutes to get the priest off the land line and back on a wireless. The bass and sax just played louder and got picked up by the choir mics. It was the best we could do. My unflappable son controlled the board, while chaos reigned around him. I was actually glad to be out front, away from the hell. Of course, that meant that I dealt with the mics...my knee may never recover.
Anyway, in spite of the problems, we made it through the Mass and the choirs sounded great. Big sigh of relief!
We were asked to come back on Sunday to do another Mass and what a difference 16 hours made. It was quiet and beautiful and the soloist truly rocked!
That was our Christmas.
My son deserves an award or something. lol

Is my son showing off his Aviom shirt.
We have no idea where we got it and we
had no idea what it was, when we did
get it. Avioms are the controls for
the soloists talk back speakers.
