My son and I work audio at Church.
This past Sunday, as we were packing up to leave, the keyboard player asked if we were coming to the concert that evening. We didn't know for sure, but figured we would see how the day went and decide. I was in the midst of cooking, but we as a family decided to check it out. Thankfully, the buns I was cooking at the time finished up just when we were ready to go.
So we go there and my son went into the audio booth for a bit and we found seats and sat down to enjoy the concert. It ended up being our Children's Choir, High School Choir, Adult Choir and soloists and the supporting band. The band, at one point, broke out and did a Jazzy Christmas tune, that I really loved.
I believe it was the first time we combined the many choirs to sing together and it really came out nice.
It was the first time I had ever been to an event like this in the evening hours and it gives the Church a very different feel.
A nice free event, to put us into the holiday spirit.
What better way of audio training than to work with choirs.Did Justin get any "board time"during the show? I think that the times I spent working with choirs either in a studio or venue situation provided some of the best experience for dealing with acoustics. It is a skill that still serves me very well to this day.
ReplyDeleteNo Geoff, he didn't, though he would have done so, in a heartbeat. Maybe next year.
