This is another in my posts about the Warriors exhibit at the Bowers Museum.
These figures were found in a tomb from a much more recent time, then the tomb with the full size warriors. The emperor decided that the guardians did not have to be full size, to serve the purpose of guarding him through the afterlife. Wow, downsizing, even back in those days. :-)
The first group are your basic warriors on horseback. The front line of defense.

These are the ones behind, foot soldiers with their shields to deflect the arrows from the enemy.
I love the detail that goes into them. Cuter then the full size warriors, IMHO.
Pretty cool, all in all.
I like those! Very cute indeed. Hope all is well, I've been so spotty in blog reading these days. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI know, it is a hard week to get page views. Everyone is so busy.
ReplyDeleteI was sad that no one mentioned how cute they were. I was so impressed with the lighting on the exhibit, that showcased the detail of the figures.
A Happy New Year to you, Fran.
