We have been in our new church for 2 years now and they finally installed the TV Monitors on either side of the sanctuary. There was a lot of talk from parishioners about why we are spending this money for something so trivial. I believe the bottom line is, they always intended to put them in and the money was available to do so. We have not been able to show videos to the parish and I am sure that was a major consideration. We used to show things at least 2 or 3 times a year, especially when asking for a new commitment of money for the next year. They intend to use them weekly, to put the words of the hymns up. I believe they also will use them when we have outside processions, to broadcast what is going on outside the facility, to those still in Church. It should be interesting, to say the least.
The whole thing will be operated through the audio board and the Techs that run it, so my son is quite excited about the added responsibilities.
Since they had to install the screens with a crane, that gave us access to the objects that are normally out of reach. While up there, they were able to take the cloth covers off the line arrays, that hang on either side of the cross. Some people were offended having the audio speakers hanging there and so they covered them, to appease the few. In my humble opinion and the opinion of many, many others, it looked much worse with the covers. So the decision was made to take them down.
Thus, we are back to the line arrays. Yay!
