Learning To Fly...Or Not - TFR's More Rain And Chili

Another Sunday and even though it is Superbowl Sunday, it was my son's day to fly. Before he left his instructor 2 weeks ago, he was asked to schedule himself and go to the airport to fly Touch and Goes. We had figured he could do that on his half day that occurs when his Dad has his day off, on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Wednesday, due to the President being in town for the events leading up to next week's Super Tuesday, there were flight restrictions on Van Nuys. Called TFR's, these are notices that some temporary situation calls for restricting where planes are allowed to fly. He told me that there was no way he could fly, because of Air Force One, was in the area and Van Nuys was under that Flight Restriction. OK, I understood and figured that he might be able to fly for his scheduled lesson on Sunday. Well, as predicted, the weather decides to change to rain, after a week of sunshine, so he lost out there too. We got the word early for once and didn't have this last minute cancelation, impact our schedule. So we went from our normal Sunday audio gig, to preparing for Super Bowl Sunday. My son, my other son and I went down to the Westside and had a nice time at the party. 4 kinds of Chili and other food. The commercials were sometimes worth the price of admission and then The Giants pulling out the win at the last minute...priceless!
