Yes, it's over! The picketing is no more. There is still the contract to ratify, but as Ken Levine said on his blog, with such a huge percentage of writer's voting to suspend the pickets, he believes the outcome is a foregone conclusion. My friends in the Max Martini/Unit world have been trying to find out the status of our favorite show, but I can't state for sure, which way it will be going. When we call CBS, they say yes, there will be more episodes, but when we read the trades, they say no. I hope we get official word today.
Updated to add: Here is the official word from CBS. Sigh...
I can't tell you how excited I will be when I see the first of the distinctive yellow signs, signifying that they town is definitely back in business. It's been a hard time, here in Tinseltown and especially in my little corner of the world, Santa Clarita.
==================
Another Update on 2/27. 93 percent of the voting members did vote for ratification of the Contract. So now the Writer's Strke is officially OVER! Thank goodness.
As many papers no doubt have done (or will soon do) my local paper ran an article today by their resident TV reviewer noting the official end of the strike with various details and ramifications.
ReplyDeleteIn dealing with the issue of when some shows may return he mentions a few by specific instance, but generally directs folks to TVguide.com for this:
UPDATED HOURLY! After the Strike: When Your Favorites Will Return!
As of the moment I'm typing this it says for The Unit... "No additional episodes expected this season. Future beyond that TBD."
I realize that merely reflects what you've already stated, Angel, but I mainly wanted to provide the link so that you or others may check back periodically for publicly posted status updates on The Unit or even other shows. Though it sounds as if you or your contacts may very well get specific word of The Unit's fate before it is posted at TV Guide.
Thank you and yes, I did see this link. Several of us intend to call CBS later on today, to get an update. I will, of course, post it here. Still sending out letters with yellow ribbons inside, to show the fans support of the show.
ReplyDeleteMe and Les Moonves are getting to be good friends...not. :-)
AAAArrrrrrgggggghhhhh!
ReplyDeleteI NEED my Unit fix....
