They got their contract at 2:30A in the morning, not a great thing, time wise, but at least they got it. Now comes the discussion and decisions. It is not going to be an easy time for the writer's and I really don't envy them at all.
I have a few personal comments to make, as one who has been a member of a craft union on strike, at a point in time.
One is that no collective bargaining agreement makes everyone happy, thus the "Don't Write until it's Right" slogan is an impossibility.
Two is from a list of things we in Production uniquely deal with. It has been years since I worked crew, but I still remember the top two on this list (number two was eat when you can...sage advice, since producers of shows are notoriously bad at remembering that crew needs to be fed). The top one was, take the money. This might possibly be good advice today.
Sending my support your way, no matter what you decide.
Good luck and God bless.
Assuming the deal gets approved, please let us know if or when you hear anything regarding the status of The Unit, whether it will be back at all this season for a little bit or (hopefully) next.... Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAs I sit here, I am compiling letters to send to Les Moonves, telling him to save The Unit. We are sending out little yellow ribbons in each letter. I will, of course, keep you updated.
